The protestors with banners and placards in their hands were demanding immediate passage of the shrines bill. They said the condition of Hindu temples and shrines is bad in Kashmir valley as almost all shrines land had been grabbed by land mafia. They said the holy cave of Acharaya Abhinav Gupt at Beerav Budgam is facing the threat of stone quarrying as government till date has failed to ban stone quarrying there.
Besides the land of famous hindu shrines like Jeewan Sahib shrine Ladhoo Pampore, Alakh sahiba Mata Rup Bhawani shrine Lar have been grabbed while some temples have been vandalised.
They said protection of these shrines and temples is essential as they are not mere centers of worship but the heritage centers which are linked to Kashmir's cultural history of thousands of years. The protestors warned that they will intensify the agitation and take it to every nook and corner of the country and mobilise public opinion all over India.
"we will approach Hindu bodies all over the country and apprise them about the callousness of state government towards Hindu religious places in the valley" said a protestor.
He said when Government has constituted Wakf Board for Muslims and Gurdwara Prabhandak Board for Sikhs why is it hesitating to bring a shrine board for protection of religious places of Hindus in valley.
