10/2/2012 12:06:19 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 1: Panun Kashmir (A) headed by Dr Ajay Chrungoo, the premiere organisation of
Kashmiri pandit migrants today urged the central government to abandon its existing Kashmir policy as the same is pushing Jammu and Kashmir more than half way in to Pakistan.
Addressing a media conference in Jammu Dr Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman of the Panun Kashmir said, it is high time the Govt of India must abandon its existing Kashmir policy and review the same to prevent further drift.
Flanked by several other senior members associated with the Panun Kashmir Dr Ajay Chrungoo warned the centre and state governments that the recent violence against the sarpanches and panches and their mass resignations only shows that the threat of violence runs deep in the public perception.
He said the threat is not imaginary but real.
He said the reckless and suicidal policy followed by the state and the central governments to show case how peace has returned to valley when in fact the ground reality has been the other way round is leading to dangerous consequences.
Dr Chrungoo said it is disgusting that those at the helm of affairs are closing their eyes to growing radicalisation in Kashmir valley.
The people are obsessed with 'Geelani' Sickness in Kashmir valley and its ambit is widening and becoming all pervasive, he added.
He also said Panun Kashmir time and again has cried hoarse in recent times to warn government of the dangers of a myopic outlook of analyzing the ground situation only in terms of number of tourists visiting valley and the statistics of comparative violence.
He said Panun Kashmir has been urging that the ground situation cannot be gauged properly without taking in to consideration the regional situation, the reach and power of the terrorist regimes and their capability to control the tap of violence as also the influence of fundamentalists and secessionists on the social milieu.
