| New police recruits being trained to face hostile situation | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 7 : In the aftermath of the 2010 violence in the state in which more than 120 lives were lost and about 5000 security personnel wounded, new recruits in Jammu and Kashmir are being trained to face hostile situation and exhibit patience.
The trainees are also acquainted with the latest techniques of policing and making them versant with the laws of Indian Panel Code(IPC) and police rule besides handling of all types of weapons. Officials on Sunday said the eleventh batch was being given a basic training course at Police Training School Manigam (PTSM) in the central Kashmir district of Ganderbal. Inspector general of police (IGP) trainings V K Singh, during his visit to PTSM, on Saturday held a Durbar of the trainees and the staff in the school and issued on spot directions for the redressal of their grievances, the officials said.During inspection, Singh inquired about the different aspects of basic training being imparted to the recruits in different fields of policing.He was told that the training course comprising 915 trainees have completed seven months of training and are expected to pass out in the end of this year.The recruits are acquainted with the latest techniques of policing, besides making them versant with the laws of IPC and police rule.The IGP emphasised upon the trainees' staff to impart trainings to the recruits making them able to face any situation in the field.
He said that special focus should be given to make the trainees versant of human rights and discipline bound.Latest techniques of training introduced by the Jammu and Kashmir organisation have proved useful to get desired results. Addressing a durbar of recruits and the staff, Singh said that the policemen are directly involved in the service of the people. They have to face hostile situations while performing their professional duties in the field and they have to exhibit patience at every level.
Being the representative at the ground level they have a big role to build the image of the organisation, he said.Later, the IGP inspected the parade of recruits which was followed by a march past and cultural programme. He also inspected the quarter guard and other spots including model police station, training grounds, peripheral tracks, mess and dining area. |
