EARLY TIMES REPORT KATRA, Oct 17 : The all India Devotional Song Competition- part of the Navratra Festival 2012 - began here at Yog Ashram Complex this evening. Yog Acharya Swami Yoga Nand Ji Maharaj and Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhampur- Reasi range, Jagjit Kumar inaugurated the competition by lightening the traditional lamp. In the preliminary round, among thirteen contestants for competition, Rajeev Salotra of Jammu was adjudged first, Brijesh Malhotra from Kanyala as second and Paramjeet Kumar from Jallandhar as . They were provided cash prizes of 5000, 3000 and 2,000/- respectively. The Competition was adjudged by a panel of experts in music including former Programme Executive Radio Kashmir Jammu, Parduman Singh, former Station Director All India Radio, D. L. Kaswalia and former HOD Music, Dr. Usha Bhagati. The grand finale of the All India Devotional Song Competition will be held on Oct 23 and winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. One Lakh Gold Coin of Goddess and a recording contract with Venus Records & Tapes ltd. The proceedings of Competition were conducted by Rakesh Wazir who is also the Chairman of the Competition besides Member Navratra Festival Committee. The All India Devotional Song Competition is being organized by SMVD Shrine Board and Department of Tourism with active support of Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra, Zee News, Zee Jagran, MH Shardha, Disha Channel 92.7 FM, J&K Bank, Nidesh Builders Jammu, RR Arts, Jai Mata Di Sewa Sangh Prasadi, District Administration, Municipality and the local host Community. The Contestant who won the preliminary round has also qualified for the Grand Finale , while 2nd and 3rd runner ups would have to again contest in semi final on October 22 to reach Grand Finale.
