EALY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 19: To sensitize the field functionaries associated with the registration of Birth and Death events about various aspects of Civil Registration System (CRS)/Vital Statistics in district Jammu, workshop on Civil Registration System (CRS) was organized by Directorate of Economics & Statistics, J&K in collaboration with Registrar General of India (RGI), here today. Director Economics and Statistics, B.R. Lachotra was the chief guest on the occasion. The workshop was attended by Director Family Welfare, MCH and Immunization, Kuldeep Kesar, District Health Officer, Dr. Danish Rana, Health Officer, JMC, Dr. Vinod Sharma, Station House Officer, Janipur, S. Satvinder Singh besides senior functionaries of Directorate of Economics and Statistics, dealing assistants of Registration Units of Birth and Death, representatives of various NGOs and village Chowkidars. Speaking on the occasion, Director E&S, B.R. Lachotra threw light on the need and importance of Civil Registration System. He asked the field functionaries to keep their activities at maximum for timely and accurately registration of death, birth and other related events to ensure cent percent achievement adding that such practices are vital for equitable and sustained development of our state as well as nation. He apprised that the civil registration system is of utmost importance for faster, sustainable and inclusive growth of nation besides future planning in general and to ensure timely implementation of state and centrally sponsored schemes in the Health sector. He said that vital statistics has pivotal role in improving healthcare and implementation of flagship programmes adding that development in long run is only possible if all the aspects of health sector are properly addressed. He said that in rural and far-off pockets chowkidars have incredible role in providing accurate birth and death records to the concerned authorities. |
