JAMMU, Jan 11: Dr. Vivek Sharma, Coordinator, Department of Lifelong Learning was today elected unopposed for the post of Treasurer of Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA). The elections for the prestigious body will be held on January 17. Earlier, Dr. Kavita Suri from Department of Lifelong Learning and Dr Vijay Sehgal from Department of Law were declared elected unopposed for the post of vice-president and joint secretary respectively. On the last day of filling of nomination papers, no other University teacher except Dr. Vivek Sharma turned up to the Returning Officer and he was declared elected unopposed. According to the Dean Students Welfare (DSW), Professor N K Tripathi, the elections would now be held only for two posts viz President and General Secretary. For the posts of president, there will be a straight contest between Professor Vibhakar Mansotra and Professor J P Singh Joorel. Similarly, Dr. Rakesh Vaid and Dr. Satinder Kumar will contest for the post of General Secretary. Dr Pawnesh Abrol, who had filed the nomination papers for the post of General Secretary, withdrew his name today.
