Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 11: United States of America, which considers itself world master, which day in and day out crosses all the lines to promote its strategic and economic interests across the world and which enters deep inside countries like Pakistan to chase and kill Osama bin Laden, has started playing a mischief under the guise of peace in South Asia to help out Pakistan whose barbarous, inhuman and uncivilized Army breached the Line of Control on Tuesday last and brutally killed our two brave jawans Hem Raj and Sudhakar Singh and mutilated their bodies in the Mendhar sector in Poonch district. US says that it is concerned over the rise of tension between the brutalized India and Pakistan over the brutal killing of two Indian jawans, that de-escalation of situation is a must for the restoration of peace in South Asia and that it has instructed its envoys in New Delhi and Islamabad to persuade both the Governments to de-escalate situation.
"She (Secretary of State Hillary Clinton) has instructed our Ambassadors to work with those Governments, which they are doing. There were calls made at the ambassadorial level in both countries. She (has) urged for calm between the two countries. We are concerned about reports of violence along the Line of Control in Kashmir. It's our understanding that the Governments of India and Pakistan are now talking and trying to work through these issues at a high level," State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland yesterday told reporters in Washington. "We have been counseling both Governments to de-escalate, to work through this issue, to continue the consultations between them at a high level that we understand are ongoing now. Violence is not the answer for either country. Our view is that India and Pakistan have made pretty good progress in recent years, in working through a number of difficult issues, including opening of the trade relations, etc, that they are now engaged at a high level on these recent incidents," Nuland said. "If they can work it out themselves, that's obviously best. If both parties were interested in support from the UN, we'd obviously support that as well. But at the moment, we're urging them to talk to each other," she also said.
It was clear from the statement of the State Department spokesperson that US had already intervened in order to persuade New Delhi not to act in a manner that further escalates situation. It was clear from her statement that US, which needs Pakistani support till its troops remain stay put in the restive and Taliban infested Afghanistan, was only shedding crocodile tears over the gruesome killing of our soldiers. There was nothing whatsoever in her statement which could even remotely suggest that US had criticized the Pakistani army for its violation of ceasefire, entering deep inside the Indian territory and not only killing our soldiers, but also chopping off the head of Lance Naik Hem Raj and taking it away to Pakistan. That US did not condemn this barbaric act on the part of Pakistan despite the reports that the Pakistani army celebrated its brutal action and despite many confirmed reports that Lashkar-e-Toiba chief Hafiz Saeed, who was the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, had visited an area in Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir 5-6 days ago to vitiate atmosphere along the Line of Control, does suggest that it is interested more in helping out Pakistan. This should not be acceptable to sovereign New Delhi which knows it fully well that the entire nation is seething with anger. It must appreciate the national mood plus the sane counsels of objective and concerned defence experts that New Delhi must stop talking to Pakistan, sever its diplomatic and cricket ties with it and use all available means to bring the perpetrators of Mendhar terror attack to justice. US should not be and must not be allowed to poke its nose in the internal affairs of the country. Pakistan has attacked India and India must pay back in the same coin. This is the minimum the outraged nation wants New Delhi to do.
