EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan11: A one day sensitization workshop on "Intellectual Property Technology Management & Entrepreneurship" was jointly organized by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a Govt. of India enterprise and School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra today. Prof V. Verma, Dean, College of Engineering & Director, School of Biotechnology inaugurated the workshop and welcomed the experts from BIRAC and delegates from various universities & institutes of the region. Prof. Verma introduced the topic of the workshop and its growing relevance in a technology-oriented country like India. He also informed the gathering that an IPR policy of the University is being finalized under the guidance of Prof. R.N.K. Bamezai, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU which will enable the faculty of the university in filing patents in due course of time. At the outset, Dr. Ravi Dhar, Senior Consultant, BIRAC greeted all the participant with his opening remarks and introduced the scheme of programs initiated by BIRAC for creating on awareness about IPR & the available legal rights in India. The team from BIRAC made a brief video presentation elucidating the role of DBT in funding various entrepreneurship ventures in the areas of Agro-biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Environment, Infrastructure & Diagnostics. Dr. Ravi Dhar delivered a very informative presentation on Intellectual Property & Technology Management featuring out the innovations in Biotechnology and highlighted the requirements of proper data recording, relationship between innovation, basic science & research consortia. |
