| AJKPC condemns Sarpanch’s killing in Valley | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan11: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) today expressed deep shock and resentment over the killing of its senior leader and Sarpanch Habbibullah Mir by unidentified gunmen in his home in Bomai (Sopore) village of Baramulla district. Deceased Sarpanch Habibullah Mir was the member of the AJKPC's 32-member executive body. Habibullah had even attended the Sarpanches Conference here in Jammu organized by the AJKPC on Nov-27 last year. AJKPC has termed it as total failure of the state government and especially of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Panchayati Raj Minister Ali Moha mmad Sagar. Shafiq Mir, Chairman of AJKPC has demanded immediate resignation of Chief Minister and his Panchayati Raj Minister as they could not protect the elected Panchayat members who are been openly been threatened by the most dreaded terror organization. "We have been urging the state government to take precautionary measures but Instead of taking immediate steps to provide adequate security to the elected Panchayat members, Chief Minister played political gimmick and announced MLC elections terming it as huge success of the present coalition government. This is very shameful that four Panchayat members have been killed by the terrorists so far but the Chief Minister is trying to play it down by saying that all these killings might not have been done bone by the terrorists. |
