1114.11 hectares forest land cleared of encroachments: Altaf

JAMMU, Mar 23 : Minister for Forest Mian Altaf Ahmed today informed the House that 1114.11 hectares of forest land has been cleared from the encroachers which include 987.01 hectares in Kashmir and 127.10 in Jammu division.
Replying to a question by Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia, the Minister said that 7 road projects under PMGSY of Udhampur district have been cleared by the Forest Advisory Committee recently. He said that 102 cases with regard to forest clearance are pending in the Department and steps are being taken to clear these cases on merit.
The Minister said that for providing better road communication to far-flung areas like Chenab valley, Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Reasi, Kupwara and for other developmental projects, the Forest Department remains liberal in giving necessary clearance.
Regarding Monkey Nuisance in the state particularly in Jammu division, the Minister urged the civil society to cooperate with the Government for taking amicable measures for preparing an action plan to combat the Monkey menace.
Mr. Ashok Kumar, Mr. Ajaz Jan, Mr. Sharief Niaz, Mr. Harshdev Singh, Mr. Krishan Chander Bhagat, Mr. Hakeem Mohammad Yasin, Mr. M. Y. Tarigami and Mr. Lal Chand raised the supplementaries.
7893 casual appointments in 4 years: Rather
Minister for Finance, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather on behalf of Chief Minister today informed the House that 7893 persons have been engaged as casual, daily wagers, need and consolidated basis in different Departments from 2009 to ending January 2013. Replying to a question by Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid, the Minister said that these engagements were made by the competent authorities as per their requirement. Mr. Irfan Shah, Mr. M. Y. Tarigami and Mr. G. M. Saroori raised the supplementaries.
117 new gas agencies in State to be set up: Ramzan
Minister for CA&PD and Transport Ch. Mohammad Ramzan today informed the House that 117 new Gas Agencies are being set up across the state to provide cooking gas facilities to the consumers at their doorstep. Replying to a question by Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Jan, the Minister said that 5 such Gas agencies are being established in Poonch district at Havely, Balakote, Bufliyaz, New Bus Stand and Surankote. He said that till date 113 gas agencies are functioning in the state. The Minister said that 69546 ration card holders of Poonch district are receiving rations under different categories which include 30188 under APL, 27401 under BPL and 11957 under AAY. He said the monthly allocation for the district for wheat is 10498 qtls, 11664 qtls for rice and 2608 qtls for sugar.
26000 new pension cases sanctioned: Sakina
Minister for Social Welfare Ms Sakina Itoo today informed the House that 26000 new cases for old age, handicapped, widows pension have been sanctioned under weed out programme. Replying to a question by Mr. Yash Paul Kundal, the Minister said that due to paucity of funds other pending cases could not be cleared. The Minister said that the Backward Classes Commission has been made fully functional by appointing its Chairperson and four members.
