| Wapda employees stage protest | | | PESHAWAR: The employees of Peshawar Electric Supply Company and Wapda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tuesday protested against the attack and killing and kidnapping of their colleagues in the attack on gridstation in Sheikh Mohammadi village. All the Wapda and Pesco offices in the province remained closed to protest the incident.“We will observe three-day mourning against the killing of our men and kidnapping of others,” said Gohar Rahman Gohar, press secretary of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union. The central chairman of the union Gohar Taj, provincial chairman Mohammad Iqbal, deputy chairman Ali Said and others led a protest outside the Peshawar Press Club.Speaking on the occasion, they asked for the safe recovery of all the kidnapped Wapda and Pesco employees and providing security to others working in rural and remote areas. They recalled that 11 of their men repairing a power pylon in Badaber were kidnapped in January last year, but they were yet to be recovered. |
