ANANTNAG: Panchayati Raj Institutions have already been functioning for strengthening the democratic setup in the state and government is setting up Block Development Councils (BDCs) on the same pattern shortly.
This was stated by Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir while addressing one day Panchayat Conference, organized by Anantnag district administration in Town Hall Duroo today.
The objective of organizing the conference was to make Panchs and Sarpanchs aware about the programmes of government and also about their role to work in unison with 14 government departments.
Appreciating the government for taking concrete steps for upliftment of weaker sections, Mr. Mir said that Panchayati Raj Institutions are playing pivotal role in transformation of society and also bridging the gap between government and people. He directed the officers to work with dedication and zeal for bringing transparency in the functioning of various agencies for boosting tourism and other vital sectors in the state.
Among others, DSWO, SE hydraulic, CEO, Chief Animal Husbandry Officers, Assistant Director CA&PD addressed the function and provided awareness to panch members. Later, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag highlighted the role of democratic institution in making administration effective to redress grievances of the people. |
