Urges for expediting the construction of school buildings

ANANTNAG : District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone urged for the time bound completion of developmental and construction works to ensure the benefits of these activities percolate to the people of the area. He also stressed for coordination among the departments of Revenue, Education and R&B for expediting the construction of work of school buildings in the district.
This was stated by the District Development Commissioner while convening a meeting of officers to review meeting of officers to review the pace of developmental works being executed under PMGSY and by R&B departments in the district.
Among others, Superintending Engineer R&B and Executive Engineers of all the divisions of the district attended the meeting.
It was given out that out of 107 schemes being taken up under NABARD, 54 schemes have been completed for the 45 schemes in the district.
It was also informed that out of the 15 bridges taken up for construction by R&B department at a cost of Rs. 218 lakhs, expenditure amounting to Rs. 112 lakhs have been registered till date.
Among the bridges taken up, the bridges at Hugam, Hanji Danter, Larnoo Ganoor and Seer Nambal shall be thrown open for the public shortly.
Under the State sector in Khanabal division, 90 percent work at Aroo, Pahalgam road being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 243 lakhs has been completed besides 143 Kilometres road length has been black topped in the previous fiscal. In Qazigund division, 12 bridges have been constructed and road length of 183 Kilometres has been macadamized during the last fiscal.
The progress regarding the construction of school buildings being constructed under the centrally sponsored schemes including RMSA and SSA were also reviewed during the meeting. The concerned departments were asked to take over the constructed buildings at Qamar, Kapran and Shangus besides expediting the construction of the school buildings in the district.
Meanwhile, it was also given out in the meeting that as many as 18.20 lakh mandays were generated and 6622 Job Cards were distributed during the last fiscal. Under MG NREGA, Rs. 4139.66 lakh were utilized and 96 percent expenditure was registered during the sometime. While under IAY, 5627 units were taken up out of which 2690 household units including 1877 newly constructed and 821 repaired at a cost of Rs. 1120.70 lakh. It was also informed that under CD Panchayat Schemes, 122 works have been completed during the last fiscal.
