| Mir dedicates Modernized Post Office to Tangmarg people | | Kunzer Post Office to be upgraded: CPMG | |

TANGMARG, May 18 : Minister of Agriculture Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir today dedicated Project Arrow Tangmarg Post Office to people of Tangmarg area in presence of Chief Post Master General, Jammu and Kashmir Circle Mr. John Samuel, Chief.
On the occasion, an impressive function was held at Town Hall, Tangmarg where students of Tyndale Biscoe presented cultural programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mir expressed happiness and satisfaction over the Modernisation of Tangmarg Post Office, adding that it will serve the people of Tangmarg in a better way. He said that in the recent years Post Office has been involved in the development of its services on a large scale. He said that Mr. Samuel has been working for modernizing Post-Offices and providing better postal services to the people of J&K ever since he has joined, by introducing new services and engaging adequate staff.
The Minister said that Tangmarg, besides being a Tourist destination, has a lot of business establishments and residential area as well. He said that the newly opened Post Office with all latest facilities would facilitate the people of the area and tourists visiting Gulmarg and Tangmarg. He said the Post Office will function from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and shall provide all Postal facilities like Letter Post, Savings Bank and Insurance facilities. A Post Shop has also been provided to facilitate packaging and stationery needs of customers. The Post Office will also sell high quality Saffron, he added. The Minister expressed the need for opening of new Post offices in far off areas where modern means of communication are not available. The Post Office has a great potential to grow and serve the people, he maintained.
Mr. John Samuel, Chief Post Master General, J&K Circle while addressing the gathering said that Department of Posts is committed to serve the people of the State in the best possible way. He said that Department is now focussing on modernising Post Offices in Sub- Urban areas.
Responding to the demands of the locals, The CPMG announced that Post Office at Kunzer will be upgraded and new Post Office will also be opened at Dobhiwan.
On the occasion, Dr. Noor Ul Aman, Local Representative also expressed his views on the establishment of Modern Tangmarg Post Office. He said that all the people of Tangmarg are happy to have Modern Post Office at their door step for service. They thanked Chief Post Master General for providing them with all the latest facilities. The people of the area also demanded upgradation of Post Office at Kunzer.
Mr. Showkat Ahmad Parrey, ACAO J&K, Mr. G. R. Parrey, SSPO’s Srinagar Postal Division, Mr. Kaul, Principal Tyndale Biscoe Tangmarg and other senior officers from Postal Department and local administration were also present on the occasion besides a large gathering of local people. Mr. G. R. Parrey, SSPO’s Srinagar Division presented the welcome address and Shri Syed Rouf, Inspector West Srinagar Sub Division presented the vote of thanks. |
