Gul conducts extensive tour of old Srinagar city

SRINAGAR, May 18 : Taking administration to the door steps of the people, the Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Mr. Mubarak Gul today conducted an extensive tour of various areas of Srinagar City and took stock of the pace of ongoing developmental works being executed in the area.
During the tour, Mr. Gul visited Kalamdanpura, Dalal-Mohalla, Urdu Bazar, Nawa Bazar, Jamalata, KaniKadal, GasiMohalla and the adjoining areas of SafaKadal, NawaKadal and Gasiyar. He interacted with large number of individuals and deputations and listened their grievances with patiently. They projected their demands including replacement of worn-out electric polls, old electric wire at certain places, old transformers, maintenance of drainage system, timely supply of LPG, drinking water and other day to day needs.
Mr. Gul also visited Government High School Kalamdhan Pura and directed for its renovation. He also directed for making provision of sports equipment in the school for carrying out sports activities in the school. He said that a community centre would be constructed at Tilwanduri for the purpose he directed the concerned for identifying the suitable land. He inspected Government ISM Dispensary and directed the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar for its renovation.
The Speaker instructed the engineers of PDD to give attention towards the genuine grievances of the people, if any pertaining to the electricity. He also directed for identifying the blind corners on various roads and their immediate removal. He further directed the executing agencies for accelerating the pace of construction on various developmental projects to ensure their timely completion adhering the quality of works, adding that availability of funds should not be any constrain in this regard. Addressing the gathering at Idgah, Mr. Gul assured the people that necessary steps have been initiated for the redressal of their grievances. Several steps have already been taken for timely completion of the prestigious Idgah projects, he maintained. Mr. Gul paid also paid tributes to the religious leader Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq. Among others, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar and a team of senior officers and engineers of R&B, PDD and SMC accompanied the Speaker.
