| Awareness Cum Training Camp under NRDWP held at Kulgam | | | KULGAM: An awareness cum Training Camp under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) was today held at Kulgam by PHE Department in collaboration with Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) to make aware and acquaint the field functionaries of PHE, Health, Social Welfare, Rural Development Department & ICDS officials about the methods of collection of water samples from various sources of drinking water across the district. The camp was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Mr. Gulzar Ahmad Shabnam, who on the occasion enjoined upon all stakeholders to conduct water sampling in a coordinated and time bound manner so that a comprehensive mechanism could be evolved for taking necessary steps for preservation of sources of drinking water and arresting their contamination. He also sought cooperation of locals for collection of samples and preservation of sources of drinking water. During the camp, experts from CCDU and PHE Department gave a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the aims and objectives of this national level programme besides imparted training to the field functionaries of the concerned departments for collection of samples and submitting the same with CCDU for laboratory tests. The participants were also made aware about the techniques and methodology being adopted for the purpose during the collection of water samples in their respective areas. It was informed that the process of sampling shall start from May 23 and shall conclude on May 27 to cover all habitations of the district. |
