| DDC asks line deptts to establish workshops for unemployed educated youth | | Rs. 1699 Cr provided to 50091 beneficiaries in Sgr district for establishment of IG Units | | SRINAGAR: A hefty sum of Rs. 1699 crore was provided to 50091 beneficiaries of Srinagar district by various financial institutions under “Priority and Non-Priority Sectors” for establishing of their income generating units against a target of Rs. 1632 crore during last financial year. This was stated at District Level Review cum Consultative Committee meeting held here today under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, who is also Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah. The meeting was further informed that Rs. 66.34 crore were provided to 7105 beneficiaries under Government sponsored schemes during the same period. Speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner stressed upon the bankers and officers of line departments to work in tandem for timely financial assistance to the unemployed educated youth desirous of establishing income generating units. He said since youth is turning fast towards self employment, it is our duty to facilitate and provide financial assistance and other moral support to them. Mr. Shah enjoined upon line departments to organise workshops in all urban as well as rural areas of the district for proper dissemination of awareness about various self employment schemes. He also asked bankers to understand the social responsibility and work enthusiastically to facilitate the people. Mr. Shah stressed the need for increasing CD ration of the banks by improving the lending to weaker sections of the society. Among others, the meeting was also attended by ADDC, Mrs. Rukhsana Gani, Assistant General Manager, RBI, Mr. Rakesh Raina, heads of line departments and district coordinators of all banks operating in the district. |
