KANGAN: Minister for Forest and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad, today conducted an extensive tour of Kangan constituency and visited Arhama, Chodhary-bagh, Goripora, Haripora, Panzan Margund, Chattergul, Haknar besides other areas and took stock of the power of water supply facilities being provided to the people of these areas. The Minister was accompanied by Supd.Engineer, PHE, Executive Engineer, PDD and other engineers of the concerned departments. During the visit, the people raised different demands pertaining to their basic needs which included provision of safe and filtered drinking water, replacement of old and damaged electric poles and HT-LT lines, reversion of power tariff hike to BPL families, upgradation of health centre, making filtration plants functional, improving irrigation facilities, timely release of irrigation water from Baba Canal besides development of playing grounds. Interacting with the people, the Minister said that 23 water supply schemes have been taken up in the constituency out of which 5 stand already completed while as five are expected to be completed during current fiscal. He said Rs. 21.14 crore, including Rs. 4.21 crore spent during last fiscal, have been expended out of estimated cost of Rs. 27.66 crore so far. The Minister said efforts are on to improve power supply scenario in the constituency, adding that Rs 52 lakh have been incurred for the purpose during last financial year, including Rs. 27 lakh spent under tribal sub plan. He said 8 new transformers have also been installed in different villages of the constituency during this period. The people also demanded making functional of Badargund filtration plant, replacement of LT-HT line at Wurpash Gujjar basti, provision of water supply to Nihamas Gujarpati and Kasanapati. Minister directed engineers to utilize spring source at Wurpash and make detailed project report besides taking necessary measures for mitigating water supply problem of the people of Hedarmaidan, Yarmuqam Aadar. Mian Altaf directed engineers to take steps for making functional the Kowcherran filtration plant and complete the Pathpora water supply scheme early. |
