Periodical health check-ups vital for quality life- VC

JAMMU: Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, on Wednesday emphasized the need for periodical health check-ups, saying updates can help combat various diseases at the initial stages.
Interacting with senior doctors of Government Medical College, Jammu, Gandhi Nagar Hospital and members of the University fraternity during a free health camp, organised by the Department of Students Welfare in Collaboration with the University Health Centre, the Vice Chancellor said that healthy living stands guarantee against disease and better quality of life.
The Camp was inaugurated by Mrs Lida Singh Ishar, who lauded the effort of the organizers saying this will immensely benefit the students, staff and faculty of the University. She said that awareness on various health parameters was necessary for keeping the disease at bay. Describing good health as bliss, she said that timely check-ups are necessary for living a healthy and vigorous life.
During the Camp, the doctors and the para medics conducted free health check up like blood pressure, ECG, blood sugar etcetera.
Eye, Heart, Bones and other examination were done by an expert team of Doctors along with the other paramedical staff.
The Vice Chancellor and Mrs Lida Singh Ishar complimented the specialists of Government Medical College Jammu for their expert consultation and examination during the camp. They said such efforts would go a long way in helping the University fraternity lead a quality life.
During the camp, around 500 students, faculty and staff members sought the consultations of the specialists in various disciplines. Several tests like Basic Investigation (Hb, Blood Sugar, CBC, Blood Grouping), Ultrasound, ECG and as prescribed by the doctors were also conducted free of cost on the occasion. Free Medicines were also distributed free of cost during the camp. The prescribed medicines were given to the patients by the examining Doctors free of cost.

Bali, Prof. & HOD Nephrology, , Dr. Arvind Kohli, Sr. Cardiothoracic Surgon, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Orthopaedics of Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr. G.S Saini, Prof & HOU, Department of Paediatrics, SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Kewal Ishar, Gen. Surgeon (Retd.), Dr. Sameer Mattoo, Sr. Consultant Eye, Dr. Harinder Kour, Consultant ENT, Dr. Sudhir Sabherwal, Neurosurgeon, Dr. Mohd. Ashraf, Radiologist of Gandhi Nagar Hospital Jammu, Dr. Poonam Sethi, Gynaecologist (Medical Officer), University Health Centre and Dr Gautam , Dentist examined the members of the University fraternity during the day long camp.
Dean , Department of Student Welfare, Prof. N. K. Tripathi expressed his gratitude to the specialists from the GMC Jammu and Gandhi Nagar Hospital for their gesture of examining the members of University fraternity.
