| Coalition determined to take the state to new heights of growth: Rather | | “Forces inimical to peace will be defeated” | | BUDGAM: Observing that the people of the State have pinned high hopes with the present dispensation, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today reaffirmed the resolve to provide all the basic facilities to the people without any discrimination. He said no stone will be left unturned to come upto the expectations of the people. Addressing a big public gathering in Showpora, Tehsil Chadoora, Mr. Rather said that two decades long turmoil has brought untold mayhem and miseries to the people who now want lasting peace to seek heeling touch to their wounds. He said the present Coalition Government headed by Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah is working overtime to fulfill the yearning of the people for peace and tranquility in the State adding that nobody will be allowed to sabotage the peace initiatives being taken by the Government. He said since peace and tranquility are pre-requisites for a march towards socio-economic development and prosperity, all the nefarious designs of defeated and disgruntled elements to derail peace process would be thwarted tooth and nail. He said the world is witness that economy and growth has picked up considerably due to the peace and calm that prevailed during the last two years in the State and the influx of tourists have shown an upward trend that helped the people associated with tourists industry to earn their livelihood with dignity and honour. Mr. Rather said that the elements inimical to the peace and prosperity of the State would not be allowed to succeed in their game plan as the present Coalition Government is determined to take the State to new heights of development and growth. “We have full support of the people, who are yearning for peace and endorse policies and programmes of the present Government”, Mr. Rather said adding that common people are the biggest stakeholders of the peace dividends. The Finance Minister sought people’s more support and cooperation in the implementation of various development programmes and welfare initiatives of both Central and State Governments adding that they should monitor ongoing works in their respective areas and help to ensure judicious use of funds. He also asked the engineers and officers to work with social commitment to redress the grievances of the people, who have suffered on all fronts due to long turmoil and turbulence in the State. Responding favourably to the demands of the people, Mr. Rather assured that Rs. 2.10 Crore Showpora Bridge will be commissioned in the month of June, this year. He said a new Water Reservoir costing Rs. 12.00 lakh will also be constructed to augment drinking water supply in the area. He also announced compound walling of the local school adding that all the genuine demands made by the locals will be fulfilled. The Minister was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Mr. Ghulam Mohi-ud-din, Executive Engineer, R&B Chadoora, Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad, Executive Engineer, PHE, Chadoora and concerned officers of the district administration. |
