| Work on Ganpat bridge to be resumed: Wani | | | DODA: A high level meeting was chaired by Minister for R&B and MED, Abdul Majid Wani, here today in which T K Basu and V P Singh, Consultants appointed by JKPCC presented their detailed report regarding various aspects of Ganpat Bridge at Doda. Rejecting all the previous findings by IIT Delhi and CES consultancy, the experts apprised the members that the stress level of both the existing pillars does not exceed the permissible limit and with some minor changes in design and reduced load, the construction of the bridge can be resumed. The experts said that the bridge is safe and after the further sub soil investigation, the work can be started with the M45 concrete strength material. While deliberating the earlier findings by other agencies, The Minister directed the concerned officials to complete all the remaining formalities and resume the work of the bridge at the earliest. The Minister said that Ganpat Bridge is vital for better connectivity and development of Doda. This bridge will give further expansion to Doda town and add to its beauty. G N Balwan Addi DDC Doda, Asst Director Planning, Manish Kumar DGM JKPCC Kuldeep Sharma and GM JKPCC T R Bhagat were also present in the meeting. Later, accompanied by various district and sectoral officers, the Minister visited Barshalla and Dashnan and laid foundation stones for 4 km Link from Lower Barshalla to Upper Barshalla road and 10 km from Bairbagh to Kanaal road via Mankan. The minister also held public meetings in the area in which the local people apprised him of their problems regarding scarcity of water, shortage of ration , and bad condition of roads and schools. The minister instructed the PHE officials to ensure the construction of three reservoirs having collective capacity of 3000 Gallons at Dashnan and Upper Shurion. He also directed the authorities of ERA and PMGSY to immediately repair the roads leading to these rural areas otherwise strict action will be taken against them. |
