Wani chairs DDB meet
Rs 71.98 cr annual plan approved for Doda

KISHTWAR: The District Development Board Kishtwar, which met here today under the chairmanship of Minister for R&B and Mechanical Engineering, Abdul Majid Wani, approved an outlay of Rs 7198.91 lakh for Kishtwar for the financial year 2013-14.
The plan included Rs 2491.32 lakh revenue component and Rs 4707.59 lakh capital component.
Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Culture, Housing and Urban Development, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, MP, Udhampur Doda constituency Choudhary Lal Singh, MLA Inderwal, G M Saroori, MLCs Syed Asgar Ali, Shehnaz Ganai and Sham Lal Bhagat, DDC Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad besides heads of various departments and district officers were present in the meeting.
The DDC Kishtwar presented a power point presentation on achievements of various sectors in the previous year and also the proposed outlay of the current financial year. He informed that Rs 5971.27 lakh were
expended under last years annual plan registering 98.41% achievement.
It was informed that, in this year’s plan, Rs 21.27 lakh have been kept for IAY, Rs 388 lakh for MGNREGA, Rs. 705.33 lakh for elementary education, for SSA Rs 865.09, for RMSA Rs 476.48 and Rs 389.07 lakh have been kept for health.
Taking the review of PHE, the Chairman directed the concerned officials to speed up the pace of progress on Naigad water supply scheme and Water Lift scheme for timely completion. He asked the PMGSY authorities to work out a compensation package for the farmers whose lands have come under the debris and also initiate the second phase of works with focus on inaccessible areas of Marwah, Dachhan and Padder. He asked the R&B and GREF officials to take up new projects, go for repair of damaged roads and provide better road connectivity to people. The compensation for the acquired land and other problems of people were highlighted and the officials were directed to address the same.
The meeting discussed various programmes being done under education sector like SSA and RMSA besides deliberating upon shortage of school buildings and teaching staff. The administration was directed to ensure the prescribed quality of building material used in SSA buildings.
The Rural Development Department’s schemes like IAY, MGNREGA, TSP etc. were discussed in detail.
The Chairman directed the department of social welfare to ensure proper working of Anganwari Centres and timely distribution of nutrition among the children and lactating mothers. They were further directed to clear all the pending cases of scholarships and old age pensions. Besides, he asked the Employment, Handicrafts, Sports, Industries, cooperatives, agriculture, horticulture departments to implement their schemes in an effective manner.
Similarly, the meeting reviewed the functioning of tourist circuits of Chatroo Sinthan, Gulabgarh Machhail and Shalimar Kishtwar. The agriculture department was directed to implement the Saffron Development Mission in letter and spirit.
The Chairman called upon officers to work hard and give priority to implementation of development and welfare programmes in the lacking areas.
