Kathua: MLC Subash Gupta inaugurated the two day Chinj mela which here today with great fervor and enthusiasm in the Chugan ground of Ramkot in Tehsil Billawar .
The historic Chinj Mela was witnessed by hundreds of people from several adjoining villages.
During the mela, stalls were installed by the government departments displaying their products to be sold on subsidized rates. Besides, traditional food stalls were also the part of the mela.
A colorful cultural programme was also organized by Information Department where Bansi Lal & Party presented the Dogri Folk dance performances.
Wrestlers from within and outside the state participated in the chinj.The MLC, while speaking on the occasion, said wrestling is a popular rural game which needs to be encouraged at all levels.
Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Jitender K Singh and SSP Kathua Mohan Lal, SDM Billawar Vikas Gupta, SDPO Basohli Rafiq Manhas and other Tehsil and District officers also witnessed the chinj mela. |
