SAMBA: A meeting of District Level Committee for National Food Security Mission (NFSM), National Bamboo Mission (NBM) and Technology Mission (HMNEH) was held under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, R.K.Varma, to approve action plan under these schemes for the year 2013-14. The DDC emphasized upon the members of the committees to implement the schemes in a time bound manner so that the benefits percolate to the farming community. This will raise socio-economic status of farmers besides contributing to the development of the district. Earlier, Dr R.K.Sharma Chief Agriculture Officer, Samba, gave a power point presentation on the achievements made in the district during 2012-13 under NFSM, NBM and HMNEH besides presenting the proposed action plan for 2013-14. He also informed that about 110 hectare of additional area has been brought under irrigation during 2012-13 by providing pumpsets and construction of check dams. The various interventions under the scheme resulted in dissemination of the technology to the farmers through Cropping Based Farmer Field Schools, Management of yellow rust in wheat by providing timely availability of Spray Pumps and Plant Protection Chemicals, the yield of various crops also increased by the supply of zinc and other micro nutrients. Others who attended the meeting included Assistant Commissioner Development Samba, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dy. Dir Handicrafts, Dy Registrar Cooperatives and progressive farmers of the district. Suneel Koul, District Agriculture Officer, Samba presented vote of thanks. |
