early times report

JAMMU, June 28: Harsh Dev Singh NPP MLA and its Chairman today said that the visit of Prime Minister had brought to fore the fissures in the Congress-NC coalition and exposed the extremely fragile nature of alliance between the two partners who were running the government in uneasy co-operation and sometimes in secret competition with each other he said that senior NC leaders including Dr. Mustafa Kamaal and Dr. Mehboob Beigh who were quite vocal and vociferous in their criticism of union government had used the present occasion also to demonstrate their anger against their coalition partner. He said that Dr. Mehboob Beigh had publically criticized the Prime Minister for not responding to the demands of Autonomy and transfer of Dul Husti Project. He said the rebuttal of the charges of the NC leader by Prof Saif-ud-din Soz had initiated a debate and a tug of war between the alliance partners that were diametrically opposed to each other on multifarious issues.
Harsh Dev Singh further expressed his dismay over the unprovoked outbursts and virtual threats of Omar Abdullah in Banihal Public meeting over Article 370 which not only put the top leadership of the country in an embarrassing position but on a receiving end. He said one wonders as to what prompted Omar Abdullah who despite his limitations as Chief Minister went so aggressive and that too in the presence of top executive of the country with whose party he was running a coalition. Reminding Omar Abdullah of the good old days when he was a minister in BJP led government, Singh said that never had he made such an eloquent speech on Article 370 as in Banihal public meeting and without there being any provocation.
Describing the PM's visit to the state as disappointing one, Singh regretted that the Prime Minister failed to announce any special package for earthquake ravaged districts of Doda and Kishtwar. He said that the people of affected areas had pinned high hopes in PM's visit but had to face disappointment in the face of inadequate response of the visiting central team. Harsh Dev Singh further deplored the neglect of Jammu based issues and said that no mention was made of West Pak and PoK refugees who too had lots of expectations from PM's visit. He said likewise the victims of militancy were also left disappointed.
Commenting on launch of rail services from Banihal to Quzigund, Singh regretted the deprivation of Jammu region in the matter of laying of railway lines and provision of metro and mono rail facilities in Jammu. He said it was good that entire Kashmir region had been provided with rail services from Banihal to Baramulla, but Jammu region had contrarily been neglected and deprived.
