Shabir launches e- Hospital project at Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital
‘All DHs to be covered under prestigious scheme’

JAMMU: Minister of State for Health and family Welfare, Shabir Ahmad Khan today launched hi-tech computerised services here at Gandhi Nagar Hospital created under the first phase of centrally sponsored e- Hospital Project.
Funded under National Rural Health Mission J&K, e- Hospital project @NIC Suite is web based solution using Free Open Source Software (FOSS) tools for managing healthcare service delivery in public hospitals to accelerate infusion adoption of ICT tools and maintain healthcare standards. FOSS is generic software which covers major functional areas like patient care, laboratory services, work flow based document/ information exchange, human resource and medical records management of hospital.
Costing Rs 6.5 crore, the e- hospital project has to be implemented in two phases covering four modules, including Out Door Patient (OPD) In Door Patient, Emergency and Billing in the first phase and store management, Radiology and Lab services in phase second.
So far the e-hospital projects have been implemented in only two hospitals of the State, including Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu and JLNM Rainwari with 40, 000 and 26, 000 registrations, respectively.
Later, the Minister also chaired a meeting of officers of Health Department which was attended by Acting Director Health Services, Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma, Director NRHM, Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Dr. Madhu Khullar, Project Director AIDs and others.
The Minister congratulated the management for attaining the distinction of being the first hospital in the state to have this prestigious project. The Minister said that this will help in maintenance of records,
creation of Data base for research, quick handling of registration, compilation of Day-today data base and Information regarding registration of patients.
The minister further said that all District Hospitals will be brought under E- Hospital Project aimed at to streamline and improve healthcare delivery system in the government run health institutions.
“Maintenance of record is most essential part of the project as it would help the hospital in number of way” the Minister added. The Minister asked the Directors Health services of Jammu and Kashmir Valley to conduct surprise inspections of Government Hospitals and ensure proper functioning of the hospitals. He also stressed the need to keep a close watch on ultra sound and other clinics to check the menace of female foeticide.
