| Verma demands political reservation for OBCs in State | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Aug 4 : Vice Chairman of State Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of Other Backward Classes (OBC), Kuldeep Raj Verma on Sunday demanded political reservation for OBC in state. Addressing a function organised by the Kayshap Rajput Sabha, Verma informed that Chief Secretary Iqbal Khandey would review the enhancement of reservation quota for OBC people in Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow. Stating that Congress party is committed for the upliftment of the OBC people, Verma said the party has decided to give reservation to the other backward classes people in municipal and Block Development Council (BDC) elections. He further informed that the government is committed for the construction of hostels for the OBC students on the patron of Gujjar Bakerwal hostels. "We will arrange rented hostels for the OBC students until the construction work of the proposed hostels is taken up," he said, adding that the UPA Government led by Congress has taken various initiatives for the upliftment and development of the other backward classes. |
