JAMMU, Aug 4: Panthers Party chief patron Bhim Singh on Saturday once against lambasted three Abdullahs - Sheikh Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah - and asserted that reorganization of Jammu & Kashmir is "inevitable". Telangana may come today or tomorrow but reorganization in Jammu & Kashmir is inevitable as Jammu Pradesh stood divided in 1947 when armed Razaqar supported by Pakistan invaded Jammu & Kashmir in 1947. Sheikh Abdullah managed Nehru with his Kashmiri ethnicity to secure geographical boundaries of Kashmir Valley with the Indian Union. The territories which Pakistan calls as 'Azad Kashmir' (POK) were integral part of Jammu Province having common link of its cultural, political and geographical identities. The Paharies remained worst sufferers," he said. Not content with the above statement, Bhim Singhaccused Sheikh Abdullah of fighting Jehad against the (March 1846) Treaty of Amritsar (that created Jammu & Kashmir State), charged Farooq Abdullah with "riding the autonomy wagon" and lambasted Omar Abdullah for trying to implement Dixon plan that divides Jammu Pradesh on communal lines along the Chenab River. "The National Conference leadership stood totally exposed in its own mirror as Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah fought Jehad against Treaty of Amritsar, Dr. Farooq Abdullah rode the autonomy wagon whereas Omar Abdullah is gliding on the robot of Dixon Plan. The National Conference stood exposed by the opportunistic stand they have been taking to suit their vested interests to stick to power with the support of anybody and everybody from Delhi may it be secular Congress or saffron BJP," Bhim Singh said while condemning the statement of Omar Abdullah that "there is a need to set up a Central Commission to examine the need for reorganization of states". The JKNPP chief patron not only rejected the slogans of autonomy and self-rule, saying that the state already "enjoys maximum autonomy, but also said, and very rightly, that the "so-called slogan of greater autonomy or self rule has no meaning for the people of Jammu & Kashmir". "These slogans have been coined only to exploit the innocent and caged Kashmiries in the Valley," he said, adding that "for Telangana a resolution of A P Assembly is needed, whereas in case of Jammu & Kashmir it is only the Parliament within the meaning and scope of Article 370 that the Parliament can go for reorganization by annulling Treaty of Amritsar or propose three legislative/administrative units for Jammu & Kashmir -- Ladakh, Kashmir Valley & Jammu Pradesh". Bhim Singh was absolutely right, as the President of India using executive powers vested in him by Article 370 can reorganize the state anytime subject, of course, to the condition that the Union Cabinet sends a proposal to him to this effect. No one can contest the argument of Bhim Singh. Setting the record straight, Bhim Singh also urged the people of Jammu Pradesh, particularly the Dogra-Pahari youth to join the panthers party movement for the reorganization of the state as the "Dogra-Pahari identity can only be safe under the Dogra-Pahari leadership". Whatever Bhim Singh said was fine. All reasonable people and friends and well-wishers of the people of Jammu Pradesh and Ladakh region and India as a whole would surely support all the formulations of Bhim Singh, as he nowhere crossed any line. However, the point is that the methodology he is employing to achieve statehood for Jammu Pradesh and UT for Ladakh region is just weak. He cannot achieve his goal by issuing statements from New Delhi or by holding a press conference in Hotel Ashoka, Jammu, once or twice a month. He talks about Telangana but he should know that more than 900 Telangana youth have laid down their lives for the cause and that the people of the region have made many sacrifices over the period. People of Jammu Pradesh do want separate statehood but their problem is that no leadership is coming forward to take forward the statehood movement in the real sense of the term. Bhim Singh needs to ponder over all these relevant points. |
