Sports Reporter JAMMU, Aug 24: District Doda clinched the divisional level inter-district under-19 boys' tennis ball cricket trophy outplaying Udhampur by three wickets in the final played at Green Field ground, here today. The competition was organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS). Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Udhampur bowled out for 56 runs in 9.3 overs of the 10 overs game. Sunil Kumar made highest 29 runs as no other batsman could touch the double figure mark. From Doda, Amit and Kamran took three and two wickets respectively. In reply, Doda attained the goal of 57 runs in 9.1 overs losing five wickets. Amit Singh remained top scorer with 20 runs while Kamran added 11. For his match winning innings, Amit Singh was declared man of the match and man of the series. Earlier, in the semifinals, played today, Doda outplayed district Reasi by seven wickets. Batting first, Reasi lost all their wickets for 34 runs in 7.5 overs. In reply, Doda attained the goal in 5.4 overs for the loss of one wicket. In other semifinal, Udhampur defeated district Samba by a comfortable margin of 36 runs. Earlier, Udhampur scored 65 runs for seven wickets in allotted eight overs, which, in reply, Samba could not chase and bundled out cheaply for 19 runs in 5.1 overs. In the final and prize distribution function, Director General DYSS, Naveen Agarwal was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners up trophies as also other individual prizes. Deputy Director DYSS, Ved Parkash was also present. |
