| 82 mm mortar shell diffused near Hamilton bridge | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 24: Army today defused 82 mm mortar shell which was found in a seasonal rivulet near ancient Hamilton Bridge within the heart of the city today. Army sources said this might has washed away by flash floods caused due to recent torrential rains. Sources however added that the shell was old and rusted but its fatality could not be ruled out thus soon after army received an information from some locals about noticing mortar shell on the side of rivulet the army cordoned off the area. "Immediately after cordoning the target area, the teams of army and police called Bomb Disposal Squad to the spot, sources added. "The mortar shell was defused in situ at about 1500 hrs today, sources said further adding that the shell might have fired by the security forces during encounters in Goordhan areas when the militancy was in peak before 2005 and remained unexploded which was washed away recently by flash floods." |
