Sports Reporter JAMMU, Aug 24: The BSF School Paloura today lifted the title trophy in the under-19 boys' inter-school football tournament of Jammu district, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Mini Stadium, Parade, here. In the final, played today, BSF School outplayed Army Public School (APS) Domana by two goals to nil. Both the goals came through star-striker Parveen. Earlier, in the semifinals, played today, BSF School defeated JK Public School by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Ankit Raina in the first half of the match. In the second semifinal, APS Domana trounced fighting Government SRML Higher Secondary School 2-1 in sudden death. Earlier, in the game time the match ended in a goalless draw. Pertinent to mention here that a record number of 21 teams took part in this tournament on knockout basis. The competition was officiated by the technical penal including Mohinder Singh, Rattan Lal, Kushey Kumar, Jyoti and Harvinder Kour. The final was witnessed besides others by Director General DYSS, Navin Agarwal, who was chief guest. Later, the DG gave away winners and runners-up trophies amidst appreciation of the technical officials for the successful conduct of the event despite scorching heat. Among others present were SSP (PCR), Vijay Kumar, Principal SRML Higher Secondary School, Dalvir Singh, District Officer, Tirath Ram and member State Sports Council, Narinder Gupta. |
