| Sports infrastructure in Jammu in dilapidated condition | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 24: The Jammu and Kashmir government is insensitive towards promoting sports in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in Jammu as no attention is being paid towards dilapidated condition of various playing fields in Jammu city and adjoining areas. The Jammu and Kashmir sports council is gifted with scores of sports fields in Jammu city and adjoining areas which include Parade ground, Green fields and many such play fields which are being ignored by successive government. These grounds were established to promote sports in Jammu city but due to non cooperative and indifferent attitude by government towards Jammu are in dilapidated condition. "We have been playing in Green field since long but we never saw any sports official coming here to see its condition and improve the facilities. For past more than 15 years, facilities haven't been upgraded, which is hurting our interest," said Shubham Gupta, a sports person who reaches Green field every day to play with his friends. Green field is one such example and the condition of other playfields of Jammu has gone bad to worse during these years. During past five years, the situation is even bad as such ministers were given the charge of sports department who never paid any attention on the sports infrastructure in whole Jammu region. "If government can't enhance the facilities in these grounds, atleast these grounds should be put in better order so that sportsperson playing don't get injured and play easily. But neither government nor sports department officials are paying any attention towards it," said Ankush Mahajan, another sports person who is a daily visitor to Parade ground. These sports persons have urged minister for sports Taj Mohiddin and chief minister Omar Abdullah to intervene.
