| Police foil bovine smuggling bid | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Aug 24: Police today foiled three separate bovine smuggling bids under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kud and Udhampur. As many as 12 bovine animals were rescued and 3 vehicles seized while 4 bovine smugglers were arrested. Giving details, SSP Udhampur said based on a reliable information, a Police party of Police Station Kud laid surprise naka at NHW during the intervening night of Agust 23 and 24 and intercepted two Tavera passenger vehicles bearing registration Nos JK05B-0892 and JK03D/0843 which were on their way to Kashmir from Jammu. During the thorough search of these passenger vehicles, 6 bovine animals (3 each) were found brutally packed inside these passenger vehicles after removing their back seats. All the accused smugglers identified as Murad Ali son of Mohd Yousif of Miran Sahib Jammu, Rafiq Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid of Uri and Rafiq Ahmed Hazam son of Mohd Sabar of Kokernag were arrested on the spot and bovine animals rescued. Both the vehicles were seized. In this connection, a case FIR Nos. 99 and 100 of 2013 U/S 188/RPC 3 PCA Act stands registered at Police Station Kud and further investigation of the case is going on. In another similar case, a police party of Police Station Udhampur laid a surprise naka at NHW near Jakhani and intercepted one Mahindra Load carrier bearing registration No JK02AX-8655 which was on its way from Jammu towards Kashmir. During the thorough search of the vehicle, 6 bovine animals were found tightly packed inside the vehicle. Accused person namely Shabir Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed of Khanpur Nagtora Jammu was arrested on spot, bovine animals were rescued and vehicles seized. In this connection, a case FIR No.257/13 U/S 188/RPC 3 PCA Act stands registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on. |
