Jammu, Dec 11: Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital is going to organise a medical check-up camp for 200 Thalasemia patients on December 14 and 15. As per a press release, renowned doctors from India will participate. A conference will also be held on new alternative medicines developed in the world. Giving information, Dr. Sanjeev Dingra, Paediatrics department SMGS hospital said aim of the two day event is to provide best medical advice. "There are more than 200 people affected by Thalaseemia in Jammu and Kashmir who could benefit from the camp. "In order to eradicate this disease we need to spread more awareness among people and before tying the marriage knot couples get their horoscope matched, but to avoid any such future problem they should even get their blood tests done", Dr. Dingra said. Check up camp is being organised by Indian Academy of Paediatrics in collaboration with J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society, working for the welfare of patients affected with the disease. Patients affected with this genetic disease have to undergo regular blood transfusion, giving rise to host of health problem. Affected by the genetic disorder, a Thalassemic patient's body either stops producing Red Blood Corpuscles (RBCs) or they start getting destroyed at a faster pace. |
