| PDP, PC likely to enter into pre-poll alliance | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 11 : Two main opposition parties from Kashmir Valley, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and JK People's conference (PC) are likely to enter into an electoral alliance to take on ruling coalition in the state in the forthcoming Assembly elections to be held next year. According to sources the two parties are under constant pressure from their supporters to enter into a pre-poll alliance to take on NC-Congress coalition in the state. Sources said people in the Valley are of the opinion that if two parties go for pre poll alliance they can create ripples in alliance partners even in the central Kashmir district of Srinagar which so far has been a strong ground for NC. Though NC is eyeing on the fatwa of separatists during elections as the boycott call has in past helped the Party to maintain its base in Valley, but alliance between PDP and PC can play a spoil sport for the party, sources said. Perturbed over the changing mood of the people all over the country and possibility of PDP-PC pre-poll alliance in Valley NC leadership has started turning tables on its alliance partner Congress and soften stand towards BJP and its Prime Ministerial Candidate Narendra Modi. Sources said some NC leaders are even for breaking of alliance with Congress though it may involve fresh elections in the state. Some Party men have even blamed Congress leadership for tarnish the public image of NC in Kashmir Valley. Sources said Party senior leader Dr Mustafa Kamaal is one among such senior Party leaders who advocates for snapping ties with Congress. However Party President and Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah is opposed to all such suggestions and has asked the Party leadership to maintain calm instead of giving ire to their feelings publicly, sources added. |
