BIllawar, Jan 6: Intensifying its struggle for creation of Billawar as District, the activists of the Billawar Zila Andolan (BZA) observed one day hunger strike in front of the tehsil office Billawar.
Led by its convener Hari Chand Chand Jalmeria, many people joined the hunger strike. While addressing the protestors, convener BZA Hari Chand Jalmeria said that despite fulfilling all requisites, the Govt. is unreasonably and discriminatingly ignoring the genuine demand for creation of Billawar District.
"Even the Cabinet Sub-Committee created for creation of new administrative units, does not include the creation of districts in its terms of reference, he said adding, "approach of the present State Govt. in denying creation of new districts for deserving areas on the plea that it has already created many districts is unacceptable." He asked the Govt. to announce Billawar as District without any further delay otrherwise the stir will further be intensified.
