Jat Mahasabha for OBC status to Jats

Jammu, Jan 6: All India Jat Mahasabha (AIJM) J&K held its general body meeting at Satwari under the leadership of Sabha President Ch Manmohan Singhin which members expressed their concern on present regime's repeated failure to generate any final conclusion in particular grant OBC to Jats in Jammu.
Members in this meeting observed that few days back, Central Govt. passed a cabinet decision, granting OBC to Jats of all states in India but the community was deprived from this due right in Jammu & Kashmir due to the Article 370.
They said that Gujjars of J&K are also supporting the Jat Mahasabha of J&K, in their struggle against inclusion in OBC category. They also appreciated Dr Javaid Rahi, secretary Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation for taking up their issue with central government.
Ch Manmohan Singh, also appealed to state cabinet minister to pressurise state govt in this regard and also to take up issues of Refugees including one time settlement. Choudhary, along with other leaders appealed to CM Omar Abdullah, to forward recommendations to Central Govt for granting OBC in favour of Jats of J&K, and also for cabinet decision no.133/12, dated 18.07.2002, for including residents within 8 Kms of International Border area, in RBA category of socially an economically backward, a decision passed by then Chief Minister of state Dr Farooq Abdullah. During this meeting, a resolution was passed by all leaders present, that if before Parliament Elections, Govt. fails to resolve their issues, people of Jat community would follow with protests on roads, and the consequences of their aggression will be faced by Govt.
Among prominent present in this meeting included DySP Diwan Singh, Retd DSP HS Gill, Ch Jeet Lal, Ch Sham Lal, Ch Baldev Raj, Ch Anil, S Gurdeep Singh, Madam Kuldeep Kaur, Capt Om Singh, Major Harnam Singh, Ch Prem Pal Sarpanch, Ch Rakesh Sarpanch, Ashok Ch S Palvinder Singh, Satish Choudhary and many others.
