| Caught on camera: PHE Employees campaign for candidate | | ARO raids hotel premises | | Bivek Mathur JAMMU/POONCH, Mar 4: In yet another violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC), some Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department employees were caught in camera while they were campaigning inside a hotel in Poonch town for a political personality. According to sources, at about 11 a.m, some employee of PHE Sub Division Mendhar including daily wagers and supervisors who are visible in the video captured by local journalists started campaigning for a political leader inside RS Hotel Mendhar under the mentorship of Supervisor Mohd Kabir and Daily wager Abdul Qayoom. After getting inputs about the same, journalists reached the hotel covered entire campaigning episode clandestinely that longed up to 1:15 pm. Sources further said that following this, some media persons including Nazki Khan Javed Iqbal, Shakeel Anjum and Syed Azim Ali Shah with the video footage approached Assistant Returning Officer/SDM Mendhar Ramesh Kumar who raided the hotel and captured photographs as well as video from the hotel owing to which a hue and cry was witnessed on the spot and employees were witnessed running to and fro hiding their faces. Later on, these videos and photographs were submitted to the Nodal Officer MCC Mendhar who further asked SDM Mendhar to take appropriate action against the erring employees. As per fresh inputs, notices have been served to the erring employees and an inquiry has been ordered. Deputy Commissioner Poonch Sajjad Ahmed Khan when contacted admitted the violation and praised the role of media to highlight the violations of the Model Code of Conduct. Meanwhile, as per recent reports coming in, People’s Democratic Party has filed a complaint with Deputy Commissioner Poonch against the employees campaigning for the political personality and DC Poonch has ordered to investigate the clippings and photos captured by the media persons from the hotel. |
