| Says PDP has no role in National elections, separatists playing negative politics | | NC-Congress coalition since 1933: Azad | | Saahil Suhail
Anantnag, Apr 21: While stating that People's Democratic Party (PDP) has no role in the ongoing national elections, Union Health Minister and Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi today termed Congress-National conference collations decades old.
"History of Congress party dates back to 1885 and till 1965 Congress didn't open a unit in the state as Congress was treating national conference as its unit. Coalition of the both parties exists since 1933. However the relationship between the two parties sometimes goy strained but when secularism in the nation faces a threat we get united and fight back," Azad said while interacting with media persons after addressing the gathering along Chief Omar Abdullah, Congress Chief Saif-u-Din Soz in Verinag Anantnag today.
Denying Modi wave in the country, Azad said, "There is no wave. It is media which keeps asking about him. It is Modi who has dumped his own party and leadership. We used to abuse BJP but now-a-days no one talks about them."
Reacting to stone pelting and shutdown calls of Separatists Azad said, "They are playing negative politics and at the same time have no programme and policy for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Hurriyat leaders accuse us of not working on Confidence building measures (CBM's). But let me tell them if they consider giving Kashmir freedom or handing over it to Pakistan a CBM then I'm sorry that is not going to happen. "
He said CBM's mean to generate employment is the state and focus on development.
"We are spending 19.50 lacs on railway project which will have 941 bridges on it and 114 kilometers of tract is only through tunnels isn't this the CBM." Azad asked.
In a direct attack on People's Democratic Party, Azad said that this regional party has no role in these national elections.
"If the party is an ally of NDA they must clear it as otherwise they have no role in these elections. What a single person can do in parliament having 500 members." Azad said adding ongoing election in the country was fight between secular and communal forces.
Azad said that the fact Modi is not Vajpyee knows everyone. "We do have fundamentalists in our country, we have RSS leaders too but America never barred any of them except Modi to enter in their country."
He appealed people to vote congress to strengthen secularism in the country. |
