JAMMU, June 9: Notwithstanding tall claims of the University of Jammu (JU) of being NAAC accredited 'A' Grade University and India's first ISO 9001:2000 certified University, the Varsity, it seems, is still living in a 'dark age' as it has failed to upload recruitment forms for different faculty positions as well as administrative posts advertised on June 5 and 7 respectively in a section of the media.
The JU had invited applications for filling up posts in teaching departments vide Advertisement No Adm/C&R/14/1049-1110, dated 04-06-2014 and for various administrative posts vide Advertisement No Adm/C&R/14/1111-1160, dated 06-06-2014, wherein it was conveyed to the prospective candidates that they can either collect the prescribed forms personally from the Office of Assistant Registrar (Forms & Stationery), University of Jammu, Jammu or it can be downloaded from the University website.
However, astonishingly, the University website doesn't offer the prescribed application forms and is only displaying information on the essential qualifications, desired experience, age eligibility and other requirements for the posts leaving a large number of candidates, who are unable to visit the Varsity campus personally for various reasons, high and dry.
Some of the aspirants informed Early Times that even after repeated clicks, they didn't find any application forms which can be downloaded from the official website of University of Jammu.
"I was trying to download a form for my wife, who wants to apply for the post of Associate Professor in English, but even after five days of publication of the advertisement in newspapers, the form has not been uploaded on the website… I think Jammu University officials have forgotten that for downloading a document, it needs to be uploaded first," a job aspirant's husband wishing anonymity told Early Times.
Another candidate Arya Gupta, who wants to apply for an administrative post, said that despite repeated efforts for the last four days, the University website is unable to cater to the needs of the candidates like her for the last four days.
"I fail to understand why the Jammu University keeps on harping to be an ISO certified organization when it cannot even update its website on regular basis," she said.
Till the time of filing of this report, the 'efficient' and 'quality conscience' Jammu University, which has a 'dedicated' department dealing with internal quality, had not uploaded the forms for faculty positions and administrative posts.
When contacted Registrar, University of Jammu, Prof MK Dhar feigning ignorance said, "I am unaware of the slip-up… I will cross check with the concerned officials and ask them to rectify the mistake, if any,"
