DAK, RTI Movement seek stern action against accused
Nurse Molestation case

Srinagar, June 10: The Doctors association Kashmir (DA) and the RTI Movement have demanded stern action against Director health for his alleged involvement in molestation of a nurse. According to the President Doctors association Kashmir, Dr Nisar ul Hassan, Director Health Dr Saleem-ur- Rehman is continuing with his position despite serious allegations against him and inaction of the government has sent shock waves across the Kashmir. The statement reads that 'police have already given a clean chit to the accused hours after the FIR was registered despite molestation charges. "Saleem-ur-Rehman he is misusing his position by holding press conferences through his accomplices and is issuing statements to media claiming innocence," the statement said. Dr Nisar said that 'Saleem is above the law of land. The inaction will cost government dearly' and added that people have lost faith in the system because there is no action against culprits and women feel unsafe. There is hopelessness in them and inaction of the government will increase assaults on women," the statement said. J&K RTI Movement has sought stern action against the Health department officers, including the Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman. "We ask the state government to ensure a free and fair investigation on a fast track followed by stringent punishment which should serve as a deterrent for people who resort to heinous crimes like this," statement of RTI movement reads RTI movement also said that incidents like this are indicators of deep societal rot and the government apathy in stopping such crimes has further added to the vulnerability of women folk. "We demand the trial be transparent and time-bound and free of any pressure or influence so that justice is done and the faith of the people in the integrity of justice system is upheld," statement said. Pertinently last week, a nurse accused Director Health Services Kashmir, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, Nazir Shahdad, Block Medical Officer Saller, Irshad Tak and Medical Superintendent Seer, Dr Ashraf of molestation and in this regard though Police had lodged a FIR against the accused, however no action was taken against anybody allegedly invloved in the case.
