Jammu, June 11: All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association staged a protest demonstration this morning in front of Press Club, against callous approach of the J&K SRTC and J&K Finance Department for not clearing their pending dues. Addressing the protesting VRS employees, president, VRS Union, Dev Raj Bali and general secretary, Surinder Singh, criticized the attitude of SRTC and higher authorities of Transport Department towards VRS and GHS employees of State SRTC. "It is strange that 126 slabs of cost of living allowance (COLA) has been given to the in-service employees of J&K SRTC whereas 742 VRS/GHS employees have been denied, whereas we were in service at the time of implementation of 6th Pay commission and the effect be also given to the VRS/ GHS employees but they are denied of their due rights." They alleged that their (VRS and GHS employees') case for pending dues like COLA arrears, leave salary, gratuity, ex-gratia grant and pending bills was misrepresented before the Finance Department due to which the bills amounting to Rs 30,16,10, 673 have been lying for last three years in the Finance Department, adding this huge amount lying with the Finance Department deserves compound interest @ 12% per annum. Other present in the demonstration included Kulbir Singh, J D Singh, B V Sharma, Prem Nath. Ehsan Elahi, Surjit Singh, Surinder Singh and Sain Mohd. |
