DYSS holds inter-school boxing meet from June 19

JAMMU, June 14: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) has decided to hold annual inter-school under-14 and under-17 competitions of Jammu district in four disciplines at MA Stadium, here from June 19 to June 22.
The competition shall be held in both boys and girls categories in the events of Boxing, Taekwondo, Squay Martial Art, Wushu and Thang Tha, a handout issued here today informed.
It may be recalled here that the competition was postponed for want of minimum number of participants in each age groups by the department.

JKCA Summer Camp gets under way

JAMMU, June 14: Minister for Sports, Raman Bhalla today inaugurated the Summer Camp, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.
Minister interacted with the young cricketers attending the camp and encouraged them in their endeavor to excel at the national level. The visiting guest also faced a couple of deliveries from the young campers.
The Minister was informed by the JKCA joint secretary of Jammu wing, Sudershan Mehta that a similar camp was being organised at MA Stadium. Principal of the GGM Science College, N K Rasutra was guest of honour.

34th Rustam-e-Bhagani dangal on June 17

JAMMU, June 14: The 34th annual Rustam-e-Bhagani dangal, organized by Dangal Committee Bhagani in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, shall take place at village Bhagani in block Bhalwal, here on June 17.
This was decided in a meeting of the organising committee held at holy town of Katra with president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma in chair.
The meeting was attended by Sarpanch Mohd Anwar Khan (chairman), Bittu Raina (president), Master Ali Akbar (general secretary), Master Bittu Fung, Sham Singh, Sham Lal Sharma, Hazi Mohd. Ashraf (cashier), Galli Raina, Hazi Mohd. Shaffi, Shiv Ram (Panch) Des Raj, Master Mohd. Meenal bags chess silver in School Nationals

JAMMU, June 14: Young and upcoming chess player of the state, Meenal Gupta has bought laurels to the state winning silver medal in the just concluded Third National School Under-13 year girls Chess Championship held at New Delhi under the banner of All India Chess Federation.
State champion in her age group, Meenal trains at Ace Chess Academy, here under the guidance of top state players.
A student of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Sunjwan, Meenal is daughter of former State Champion, Atul Gupta.
In all, 500 students were there to participate in seven different age categories in this three-day event, organised by Delhi Chess Association.
Meanwhile, All J&K Chess Association congratulated Meenal for her achievement and hoped the achievement would encourage other young players to excel at the national level.

Seminar on "Teacher Education" organized
Jammu, June 14: Dogra College of Education organized One Day State Level Seminar on the topic "Quality Sustenance in Teacher Education - A great Challenge" on 14th of June, 2014 in the College Auditorium / Conference Hall. In the inaugural session, programme started with the lighting of Ceremonial Lamp.
Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister for Higher Education, Govt. of J&K State was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address he expressed his concern over the fact that Education is a light that shows the mankind the right direction to surge. The purpose of education is not just making a student literate but to add rational thinking, knowledge ability and self sufficiency. He further stressed that when there is a willingness to change, there is a hope for progress in any field.
Key note address was presented by Prof. N.R. Sharma, Head Department of Educational Studies and Dean Students Welfare, Central University of Jammu. In his key note address, Prof. Sharma pointed out that Teacher Education is ultimately connected with society and is conditioned by the ethos, culture and character of a nation, hence the teachers must be provided with the best possible professional education in order raise the standards of education and to keep them continually improving.
Prof. B.D. Damral Director cum Principal Dogra College of Education presented the Welcome address. Prof. Damral expressed his concern regarding the use of Innovative practices by saying that teaching is a noble profession and teacher is the architect of happy homes, prosperous communities and peaceful nations. He has not only to equip himself with the knowledge and skills to inform and instruct but also to develop the vision and insight to inspire and transform.

230 students of LPU Distance Education get placements

Jalandhar, Jun 14: In different placement drives, 230 students of Lovely Professional University Distance Education (LPUDE) have been selected by top companies and institutions. LPUDE students have been selected at annual salary package up to Rs 3.6 lakhs.
The students have been placed with prestigious companies and banks like ICICI Bank, LIC India, HDFC Bank, Ing Vyasya Bank, Max Life Insurance, Indya Lights, RDB Insurance Broking Services, Konnection India Dotcom, Kotak Mahindra Bank and many others. Selected as Administrators, Executives, Financial Advisers, Development Managers, Associate Partners, Accountants, Store Mangers, Tele-sales Executives, Assistant Acquisition Managers and teachers, almost all of the selected students have joined their duties with their respective selectors.
Congratulating the successful students, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal said: "I am very happy to note that our distance education students have also proved their mettle. Their selection with top companies show their zeal to rise in life through education received from distance mode. I also congratulate LPUDE mentors who continue to guide distance education students for availing such coveted chances." Summer Camp concluded at MIER

Jammu, Jun 14: A two weeks long summer camp concluded today here at Model Academy where more than 120 students of both the branches of the school participated.
Keeping in line with its philosophy of nurturing each child's individual talent, the school organized fun- filled, interactive and engaging summer camp for children from 4th June to 14th June 2014. Children were offered a plethora of activities ranging from dance, music, cooking basketball, badminton, cricket, karate, handwriting improvement, computer education, art & craft, English speaking skills and personality development. The camp ended with a spectacular dance & music performance by the enthusiastic students which surely left everybody spell bound. Some students shared their experiences regarding the camp and presented a short skit also.
Earlier students put up an interesting art & craft exhibition showcasing their creative abilities. The students had the opportunity to explore the world of computers also and they made power point presentations on various themes like Pollution, Environment and learnt animation and effects using different formatting tools etc.




Hiteshi Jamwal, D/o Devinder Singh, W/o, Vikram Singh Manhas, R/o Jammu, who has been declared qualified for the award of the degree of Master of Philosophy (M Phil) in Zoology by the University of Jammu. He worked on the topic, "Copepods Taxonomy and Impact of Select Pesticides on some Developmental Stages of Mesocyclops Leuckarti from Jammu Region with 'O'Grade," under the supervision of Prof KK Sharma from University of Jammu.






Narsingh Volley Ball Club Ghagwal, Ramgarh Town emerge winners in twin Volley Ball matches

Narsingh Volley Ball Club Ghagwal emerged as winner whereas team of District Police Samba as Runner-up in a Volley Ball Match organized by Police to mark the Raising Day of J&K Police, at Ramgarh, supervised by Anil Magotra, Superintendent of Police, Samba here today.

At the conclusion, of match, Momento as well as Participation Certificates were given to the Winning team by Suram Singh, Addl. Superintendent of Police, Samba and Roop Raj Bhagat, Commandant IRP 17th Bn. Samba who was also invited as Guest on the occasion, in the presence of Sudershan Bakshi, Dy. Commandant, IRP 17th Bn. Samba, Suresh Kumar Chib, Dy. SP DAR DPL Samba, Inspector Ravinder Singh, SHO P/S and other prominent of the area. However, in the match played at Police Station Ramgarh between the team of Ramgarh Town and Team of Village Rarian, the team of Ramgarh Town emerged as winner whereas team of Village Rarian as Runner-up. Here, S. S. Sambyal, Dy. SP SDPO Vijaypur distributed the Momento and Participation Certificates to the winning/runner-up teams in the presence of Inspector Satish Kumar, SHO P/S Ramgarh and other prominent of the area.





In addition to above, District Police Samba under the supervision of Anil Magotra, Superintendent of Police, Samba and S. S. Sambyal, Dy. SP SDPO Vijaypur also organized “Chabeel” for passersby at Vijaypur Chowk to mark the Raising Day of J&K Police.. This activity marked another step in the direction of J&K Police’s gesture of service and goodwill. The manpower of P/S Vijaypur actively participated in this voluntary service to the humanity and served people with lots of enthusiasm in which thousands of the people enjoyed the stall. The passersby and people from nearby areas praised the step taken by J&K Police in this scorching heat. This effort signifies the intent of District Police Samba to extend its reach amongst the common man.



Volley Ball match organized at SKPA Udhampur

Udhampur/June
The raising day of J&K Police was celebrated in SKPA Udhampur by organizing a Volley Ball match between SKPA Udhampur XI and ITBP XI at volley ball court SKPA Udhampur. The match was inaugurated by Director SKPA Udhampur Danesh Rana, IPS, IGP and the volley ball match was organized by AD (Outdoor) Shri R.C Kotwal, KPS and Dy. SP (Outdoor) Shri Pawan Sharma.
On the onset both teams were introduced to the Director Academy and then a spirited match was played between the two teams. The match was won by SKPA Udhampur by 17-25, 25-14 and 25-16 scores.
Director Academy stressed on the trainees of the academy to focus on sports activities in addition to routine training programmes. Fitness both mental and physical is required for the police force to perform up to the expectations of the public. In view of stress full duties performed by police officers and officials, it is of utmost importance to maintain high level of fitness by Police officials. Others who were present on the occasion were DDP Ravinder Kumar Rao, AD (I), Dy. SP Naresh Singh and Dy. SP Rajinder Salgotra. ITBP XI was represented by Asstt. Commandant ITBP Shri Ramneek Mantoo. The volley ball match was witnessed by a large number of trainees of Prob. Dy. SsP, PSI’s (Telecom), Lower Class (PP), Intermediate Class (PP) and Upper Class (PP) and large number of Admn. Staff of SKPA Udhampur. However, during the raising day week celebrations few more activities are planned by SKPA Udhampur.

Summer Camp concludes at K C Gurukul
Jammu Jun 14: A summer camp organized at K C Gurukul Ploura concluded here today which commenced in school premises June 3. The camp was organized to explore talent of the tiny tots of school.
"The students of the age group 3 to 12 years were trained with the activities like martial arts, yoga, dance, music, skates, art and craft, public speaking, theater acts, clay modeling, instrumental music, cooking classes etc, a spokesperson said.
"I D Soni State Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides and Wing Commander M M Joshi were the special invitees on the occasion who appreciated the participation of the students and said that these camps will help students develop different skills in the field of games and sports and as such are the need of the hour for the character, the statement said.
"Apart from the activities the students were taught basic etiquettes and table manners, the statement said and adding, "a cultural programme was presented by the students."
An exhibition of all art work done by the students along with a video on performance of students was also held.
