srinagar, Aug 19: Overenthusiastic provincial president of the National Conference, Devendra Rana whose name has just been cleared by party's Parliamentary board as candidate from Nagrota constituency has been fetching it a little too far by promising to make Nagrota a model constituency, as if mere announcement of his candidature by his party has made him the MLA from Nagrota.
"We have to ensure that Nagrota emerges as a hub of activity keeping in view its strategic location on the National Highway and being in the immediate periphery of the winter capital", Rana said while addressing workers on his arrival after being nominated as National Conference candidate for the constituency, while many in the gathering mocked at Rana's day dreaming.
"For the past seven years I have been amid the people of this magnificent constituency and am aware about the strengths and gray areas that need immediate attention", he said, adding that a significant headway has been made during these years to develop infrastructure and upgrade various services.
"I believe in action rather than words and keeping this in mind we have to collectively transform the destiny of this constituency", Rana said , speaking as elected representative of the constituency even before the elections have been announced.
While Rana was making tall claims which sounded comic at this stage, insiders reveal that Rana had to plead hard with his party leadership to get his name cleared as candidate from Nagrota. Insiders also believe that eventhough Rana had made substantial political investments in Nagrota during the last six years, yet it would be hard for him to win from here. |
