| Bunch of over ambitious spokesmen threaten to hijack BJP's state unit | | | Abodh Sharma JAMMU, Aug 23: While state BJP is twitching its muscles ahead of the Assembly elections, aiming at 44+ seats, a bunch of over ambitious party spokesmen is busy issuing multiple statements in a bid to be noticed in Modi Darbar. After a serious goof up during the visit of Union Minister for HRD wherein the state unit of the party sent invitations to media knowing fully well that there were instructions from the party high command to confine workers' meets and training sessions to closed door affairs and then hurriedly asking them to leave the venue; the numerous spokesmen have continued to jump over each other to issue statements on behalf of the party. Sources in the party divulge that these spokesmen are persistently trying to elbow each other out to gain centre stage by conspiring against each other. Such is the hurry and desperation to hog the limelight that a newly nominated businessman turned party spokesman who has no political background or past affiliation with the BJP has been issuing two press statements a day so that he is noticed by party's top leadership. Sources also divulge that there was a bid to appoint a chief spokesman in the state unit, for which name of a former university professor was proposed, but the proposal was grounded by a senior party leader and MP. At a time when people of border areas in Jammu are suffering due to Pak firing, and are migrating to safer places, there was lot that BJP's rank and file could do by offering volunteer services for these people, but it did little besides welcoming the announcements of the Prime Minister and other senior Ministers through the press notes issued by these over ambitious spokesmen, who do not forget to mention their names prominently below the press notes issued by them. |
