Geelani working for success of BJP ?
‘Mission 44+’ and Omar’s charge

JAMMU, Aug 26 : Is pro-Pakistan terrorist and extremist Syed Ali Sb hah Geelani working for the success of BJP or on behalf of the BJP and the RSS? Or, is he helping the BJP achieve its “Mission 44+” in the upcoming assembly elections so that it could form the next government in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K)? If one goes by what the out-on-the-limb, frustrated, demoralized and desperate National Conference (NC) working president and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Sunday, then the answer surely would be in the affirmative. Omar Abdullah, he has come to believe that his party would be decimated by the Kashmiri Muslims in the assembly elections, has suddenly developed some kind of ill-will for hardcore pro-Pakistan separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani and he is criticizing him. He is saying Geelani is pursuing a line that has all the potential of helping the BJP establish its foothold in the Valley and creating a situation that would enable Nagpur (RSS headquarters) or Jhandewallan (Delhi) play shots in the Valley or pull strings. “They (BJP and RSS) are banking on boycott in Habba Kadal, Amira Kadal, Sopre, Anatnag, Bijbehara, Khanyar and a few more assembly constituencies to make their entry into Kashmir politics” and “believe (me) these are the seats they can have in their kitty,” he is saying, and saying it publicly. “These constituencies observe boycott on the separatists’ call. Geelani should understand who the real beneficiaries of his boycott call are. It is the BJP, the PDP and the RSS who benefit from the poll boycott,” he is also saying. Not just this, he is also indirectly denouncing Geelani, saying his boycott call will not help resolve Kashmir issue nor would it help his separatist cause and he should take note of their slogan from Delhi
“Dilli Huyi Hamari, Ab Kashmir Ki Bari”, as it explains away the intentions of the BJP and the RSS. The bottom0line of his whole attack on Geelani is that he must desist from giving boycott calls, failing which “Kashmir would be “controlled” by Nagpur and Jhandewallan” and he would be a disillusioned person only capable of singing in the strain of the swan.
The statements of Omar Abdullah are very significant. These establish two things. One, the BJP can win some seats in the Kashmir Valley. The other is that he stands for Kashmir’s separation from India. How else would one explain his statement that boycott would not help Geelani accomplish his anti-India goal?
It needs to be underlined that Habba Kadal, Amira Kadal, Sopre, Anatnag, Bijbehara and Khanyar are the assembly constituencies where the internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus can tilt the balance in favour of the BJP if they vote en-block for this party. The voter turn-out in these constituencies has been consistently low since 1987, when the secessionist violence engulfed the Kashmir Valley. The BJP will do its level best to capture through democratic means some of these constituencies and it is this that is keeping Omar Abdullah awake in the night. As for Geelani, he is not going to oblige Omar Abdullah by endorsing his suggestion.
