JJSU protests over assault on student by JKNPP leader's brother

Jammu, Sept 18: Activists of Jammu Joint Student Union (JJSU) in number today gathered outside Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College and Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura and shouted slogans against the attack on a hostel inmate by younger brother of Pushvinder Singh Manhas, JKNPP leader who has illegally possessed canteen in GGM Science College.
In GGM Science College the protest was led by Vipan Lachotra whereas in GDC Palloura, Neeraj Singh Langeh and Nitish Sharma led the protest.
Students of the college demand immediate arrest of Rawat Singh Manhas, younger brother of Pushvinder Singh Manhas and his associate Manmeet Singh who attacked a hostel inmate namely Vishal on the night of September 18.
Students warned that if the accused with his associate won't be arrested in relevant section, JJSU will boycott all the city colleges.
Protesting students said that to influence the elections of student's representatives in GGM Science College, Rawat Manhas had threatened the students of college and the matter had been reported to the principal of GGM Science College on September 16.
"Following the law and order problem, the disciple committee deferred the election over which Rawat Singh got infuriated and he along with his associate Manmeet Singh alias Meetu attacked hostel inmate and also threatened him of his life by showing revolver", said protesting leaders.
After that the duo managed to escape from the spot and hostel inmates of GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce and old Campus gathered and ransacked the college canteen which was illegally possessed by brother of assailant.
Later, the students reached the main gate of college and blocked the canal road for around two hours following which Station House Officer SHO Nowabad along with other police officials reached the spot and pacified the protestors.
