MJR-1947 seeks political reservation in package | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct 29: Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 From POK, Jammu has demanded comprehensive and constructive relief package and urged the state government to provide the political as well employment reservation in civil services also as per our population share in J&K. The demands are highlighted in a meeting held by the POK refugees at Kathua on Wednesday in which while heading the meeting, the convener of the Movement JS Sudan said the one time settlement package of 25 lacs rupees to each POK refugee family was not enough because it full filled not our due share of rights as per our population in J&K state which at least 10% of the total population of J&K state. "We are not given the political right while the citizens of Habakadal is given right to cast vote even in Bangalore or other parts of the state, he said. In the meeting, various spokesperson also raised the demands for full-fledged reservation in Civil services, technical professional colleges and in assembly seats also", he said. They also demanded that, the true definition of "one time settlement policy" which is still unfold for we refugees. They said three generations of the refugees have gone but we are still ignored and even treated as non state subjects of the state due to which our development and progress is widely halted. The union Government should consider our genuine rights of all kinds for which we are deserved otherwise we will be forced to hold a statewide continue protest demonstration till the last breath of life, the POK refugees warned. In the meeting Advocate Sushil Gupta, also advocated the demands of refugees and urged the state as well as union government to address the problems of refugees who are been reeling under the outrageous approach of the state government since 1947. |
