Health institutions without Medical Officers 11/20/2014 11:02:18 PM Early Times Report Rajouri, Nov 20: Most of the health institutions in for flung areas in Rajouri district are without Medical Officers (MOs), adequate staff as well as running short of medicines including life saving drugs. About 13 health institutions in Kakalkot Health block are running in rented ad 'Kacha' accommodations and most of them are either being run by pharmacists or by the Health Workers. While admitting the bad health of government Health Institutions in Kalakot block Dr S Gupta, BMO said ,"There is dire need to improve the health infrastructure and health facilities in this block. 18 health institutions have government buildings while 13 running in rented 'kacha' accommodations and construction work for another 7 institutions was started many years ago but not completed till date". Not only has this, out of 33 posts of consultants and Medical Officers (MOs) 27 posts are lying vacant in Kalakot Health block ad most of the inhabitants I these areas are poor and can't afford treatment I private clinics/ hospitals ad In habitants of these areas said that the government has failed badly even to provide basic amenities proper health care. Anjubala , medical helper, who is running a PHC at Dhangri, on Rajouri-Kalakot road, said that no safaiwala was appointed at this center since long. The PHC has no water connection since its inception and for more the 1 year no supply of medicines was set to this health centre. "Only two employees looking after the affairs of this health institution and we are performing the jobs of safaiwala, pharmacist and as doctor. Necessary items including bandages are not available ad we are purchasing from the market" said Anjubala. On one hand state government claims of providing modern medical facilities at the door steps of the people of the state while the ground realties are totally different and most of the government health centers are either lacking proper infrastructure, equipments , medicines or many of them are without consultants/ Medical Officers.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
