Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 10: In a startling revelation, some BJP leaders had been pressing hard for forging ties with either PDP or NC, a move aimed at satisfying the voters of Jammu region. The imposition of Governor's rule has, however, triggered a simmering discontent within the party's rank and file in the wake of failure of consensus over government formation.
According to sources these newly elected MLA's of the BJP were not ready to sit in opposition on any cost thought the top leadership of the party discussed this option many times.
According to Jammu based sources these newly elected MLAs have categorically stated to top leadership of the party that in case PDP and NC refuse to form Government with BJP they will pitch for re-election rather than preferring to sit in opposition.
"When Congress floated idea of grand alliance top leadership of BJP took the matter seriously and started discussing the' opposition' option. But the newly elected MLAs of party refused the top leadership of the party saying this was the golden opportunity for them and they do not want to waste it on any cast by sitting in opposition," sources said.
According to sources these leaders were not first even ready to form Government with PDP and were more inclined towards National Conference.
"Due to limited options they finally agreed top leadership of the party to go ahead with PDP instead of agreeing to sit in opposition," sources said.
The BJP won 25 seats all in the Jammu region recording its best performance in the state but It did not win a single seat in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh.
BJP's JK affairs in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna also told media recently that they don't want to sit in the opposition for obvious reasons.
All the 25 legislators of the party had forwarded a detailed proposal to BJP chief on government formation. "We can't ignore and annoy what our legislators want and what our voters in Jammu want," he had claimed.
In order to avoid public wrath in future especially in Jammu region, BJP has left no stone unturned to ensure that a BJP-led Government is formed in J&K.
"If BJP won't be able to install its own Government or a BJP supported Government, its support base in Jammu is going to become weak in future," political analysts claim.
They said situation which PDP was facing in Kashmir was similar with BJP in Jammu.
"As people has opposed PDP forming government with BJP in Kashmir similar situation, vis-à-vis situation is in Jammu where people did not want BJP to form Government with PDP," analysts claim.
